Nwa Guys: Compass ???

Currently, I have been working for Comair for 9 yrs; 6 as PIC of CRJ 50. I live in Indianapolis and want to return to MSP, where I grew up. I applied at Compass, understanding that after 2 yrs as a Captain there, I would get an opportunity to work for NWA. I just wanted to know how the NWA pilots feel about Compass and if there is any ill will? Thanks

oh boy! don't fall into that trap! go to swa or even try ups. you will be killing your career to go to compost. to boot, you will be looked upon as a red headed step child.

I already am a blind red headed step child at Comair. I had an interveiw at SWA in JAN 07, didn't get the call and I am not related to nor do I know anyone at the other major airlines. I am just tring to get back to MSP without commuting.

Flying for Compass is flying for NWA. They are replacing the DC-9s with Embraer jets. Good luck with that.

I'm in the middle here but NWA's new fleet plan doesn't call for a direct replacement for the 9. Instead they will utilize MESABA and Compass and the 76 aircraft they fly to cover some routes the 9 is flying. They are parking the DC9 and many aren't happy with us (XJ) and Compass because of the perception that we are stealing their jobs. It's been that way for a couple years ever since we were supposed to get the CRJ200's. NWA does call for more international flying on the A330 and 787 when it comes.

Whether they (NWA pilots) like Compass or not they agreed to its existence. All pilots have been recalled and many were asked if they would fly Compass and I think many said no. I wouldn't go there all giddy with the prospect of flying with NWA in the future.

Agreeing to something while you have a gun to your head is not really "agreeing" to it.

I want to support the NWA guys as much as the next guy. I have just had the poo kicked out of me for the last 3 yrs at Comair and am tired of it.

You will probably have no problem with most of the NWA guys although I woudn't expect a real warm welcome. Most of the "yes voters" are flying big planes across big water, so any heat you feel from mainline will be in the domestic system. Man why would you want to work for NWA anyway?
