Default retierment

I retire at the end of this year. I put my app in around Feb with a Dec 1 avail date. I don't have the type either. SW seems to interview much farther out than anyone else.

Where do you fly tweets? SPS or RND?

Thanks Satchip. That's good to know...Did you target SW or did you apply anywhere else. So Far I only have an app in at FedEx. Lots of buds there.

I was actually a FAIP at CBM '88-'93.

Cheers,
JD

One of the application questions on the SWA career site is about availability in the next 12 months. I think 12 months from seperation is the earliest one should submit the application.

Good luck...

Tweet, what class were you in? I was in 88-07, the pink flamingos. I put in the Southwest app in first because they are my #1 choice. I have put in apps alot of other places though, the whole chicken, egg, and basket thing.

Thanks Garry, One month and I will be submitting that app!!

I remember the Pink Flamingos well! I was just starting out at the time...89-10...didn't mean to mislead...stud in 88, FAIP 89-93. Did you make it to any of the FAIP Mafia parties at Proffits? There is a reunion there this year...

Air NZ and FedEx are tied for #1 with me. Then SouthWest followed by anyone who will be nice enough to give me a job. LOL

Cheers,
JD

Default cbm reunion

I was too busy driving to Bham every weekend. GF graduated from the W and went to Bham. I bet you remember Chuck Espinosa. She was my class. So was Spranger, and a few other FAIPs. What did you do after CBM?

Tweet46,

Unfortunately, I can't join in your reminiscing since I was only at CBM from 03-05, but your comment about Air NZ intrigues me. Can you tell me more about the reasons you regard them so highly? I looked into the overseas options (Qantas, Cathay, European carriers), but they required citizenship in the host country (except Cathay). Thanks for any info!

Hey Satchip,

I flew with Chuck a bunch and Kurt was an IP in the same flight I was in for awhile. Chuck was a G'monster...she used to kick my a$$ everytime we flew.

NoCompromise...my reason for Air NZ is very simple. I married a Kiwi and my two little ones were born there, we also have another due next month...Momma and the kids are are already there visiting her family. They are all dual citizens for life, which was a big reason for us to travel down there to have the kids. TRICARE hassles also helped make it a very easy choice. Not to mention the fantastic education available for the kids.

Air NZ will accept permanent residency as a condition of employment which I can get through my wife. Air NZ is great company as well!! We would have a very tough choice to make if I were lucky enough to get an offer from FedEx or SWA.

Luckily my wife is very supportive and is happy to stay here if this is where the job is.

Cheers,
JD

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to find a good overseas carrier that didn't require citizenship. :P Choosing between 2 good companies would be a great dilemma. I've got my hands full just getting one job offer! Good luck on your job search!

How did you meet your Kiwi wife? Were you an Airlifter on a mission to Christchurch? Been to Darwin Aus. That's as far down under as i got.

OBTW, happy belated ANZAC day.
