decades of CRM data. Decades. One pilot is not the answer.
We obviously have no idea what happened with Kobe but I’d bet that having a second pilot (if there wasn’t one) probably would have done wonders for CRM in the challenging conditions if it wasn’t a mechanical issue. One pilot aircraft operating as an airliner would throw out all we know about CRM. And quite frankly many of us and many more passengers would probably be dead today if it weren’t for operating in a crew environment and treating it as a crew mission. I don't really want to get into it too much because I have a separate thread for this stuff but what if something like this was installed (coincidentally installed on an S76): https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us...echnology.html The pilot can concentrate on what's going around him/her and not flying the aircraft. Or the aircraft knows where it is and won't allow ground contact, it has geo fenced areas that will allow it to descend within XXX feet of the ground in those areas. Interesting safety concept nonetheless. |

I definitely agree with you in past times.

How many times would many of us have pushed it if it were not for the other guy sitting there saying something or just the fact that he’s even sitting there makes for more conservative and safe decision making. |
