I'm sure the outrage would be with the government.

If the airlines have to give up substantial equity, it will just look like typical government bureaucracy and both CNN and FoxNews will blame the other side of the aisle.

Besides, Berkshire Hathaway is buying AA, so they won't need it. The Oracle already sold off positions in DAL and LUV and bought more AA.

There won't be. The media playbook page will turn soon. People have to go back to work so when that happens and we start the road to recovery, get ready for the rest of year to be how the President and his team failed miserably v. The virus to lead up to the election. He'll get re-elected and then itll be time for more popcorn for another impeachment circus. Its so predictable, its sad. I hope Im just salty, jaded and wrong though.

Wait. Where did you see anything about BH buying AA?? I saw they sold SWA and DL. Didn’t see a AA buy...

Just me personally, I hope your not. Back to work, more conjecture, monkey poop flinging and we’re back slowly but ever so surely. Popcorn ready! And it will be so much easier to watch the fake news or not so fake having proved it means absolutely nothing comparably to a true impactful event. Whether self induced or not, it happened...

Haha. True! I guess the 'wrong' part I meant was simply the sad predictability of the joke of so called journalism these days.

I don’t know. When the airlines’ choice is to exchange equity in order to not furlough, how can any reasonable person be outraged at the government? The auto bailout included equity and that money wasn’t even stipulated for payroll. It was a straight bailout. But then again, you make a really good point about the media. They can spin anything anyway they want to tell a certain narrative.

Two of the big three automakers took the bailout. The ones that did repaid early. There was never really any criticism, except to the government for it’s terrible management of the process.

This 100%^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Once the novelty of media sensation expires and people begin to get back to work etc, the media outlets will need a new drama to write about. Be it the election some other drama.

If anything has been proven in history it's that America has a short memory.. After 9/11 there was a huge push for airport security, TSA, taking off your shoes, belts, and stripping down to nothing... Nowadays people get upset having the thing beep at them for having car keys in their pockets or having to remove their shaving cream.

Recession... inflated housing prices were a problem.. 10 years later prices are higher than back then. (I have friends buying $700k houses while working as a
valet, because a bank will give them the $$)

According to this article on fool.com Buffett may have sold a lot of his airline stock, he was just required to report DAL and SWA because he owned more than 10%. The others will reported later. One of Buffett's quotes the article reprints is:

"Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks."
