Default DAL transAtlantic routes

Atlanta-Tel Aviv, Israel (to begin March 27)
Atlanta-Dusseldorf, Germany (to begin April 3)
Atlanta-Copenhagen, Denmark (to begin May 1)
Atlanta-Edinburgh, Scotland (to begin May 4)
New York (JFK)-Budapest, Hungary (to begin May 8)
Atlanta-Nice, France (to begin May 9)
Atlanta-Athens, Greece (to begin May 29)
New York (JFK)-Dublin/Shannon, Ireland (to begin May 15)
New York (JFK)-Manchester, England (to begin May 15)
Atlanta-Venice, Italy (to begin June 6)
New York (JFK)-Kiev, Ukraine
The JFK-Kiev service is subject to U.S. and foreign government approvals. The other routes, except JFK-Manchester, are subject to foreign government approval.

Delta also will increase seasonal capacity between Atlanta and Ireland and between New York (JFK) and Rome. Other recently added trans-Atlantic routes include New York (JFK) to Chennai, India (via Paris); New York (JFK) to Berlin; and Atlanta to Moscow.

I read in the Wall Street Journal today that after Delta's international expansion is through they'll have more flights across the Pond than even British Airways.

Impressive!

It's interesting to watch all the legacy carriers bail out of the crowded, competitve domestic routes only to create a crowded, competitive international market. I wish them luck but it sure seems they aren't solving their problems as much as just looking for a new place to experience them.

Revenue generation per hour goes straight up on long legs and maint costs per hour goes down quite a bit. Makes sense if you have the feed to fill the seats. Despite their reduction of domestic flying they will still have lots of feed into those hubs. I do not think Delta is going away anytime soon.
