To be serious for a minute.....does anyone actually think some guy has a jet pack? And successfully flew it without dying? I’m guessing some sort of drone prank?! I mean.....I guess it’s possible that somebody has a jet pack, but I’ll be surprised.....and envious.

You would think that a guy educated enough to do the math on proper count and sizing of balloons to go flying would have the sense to tie the BB gun to the chair. Common sense is truly uncommon.
Poor Larry comitted suicide later in life. The irony. |

'he dropped the BB gun. That was the problem.'
The fact that it was held down with a STRING was the problem. |

Yes they exist and are available. Expensive and impractical for anything but publicity stunts. Fundamentally, it's waaaaay more efficient to generate lift with rotors/fans (ie rotary wings) than with pure equal-and-opposite-reaction thrust.

Luckily I don’t have the money for something like this, but man.....what fun that’d be if there was a way to learn before going “solo”. At Embry Riddle in the late 80’s, early 90’s, there was a simulator and ground school instructor that was in a wheel chair. The story went that he had just gotten hired at Eastern, I believe, and the week before starting training he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle and paralyzed from the waist down. Sad story. |
I swear it wasn’t me....
