Damned unions ... In the past they sucked the life out of corporations and built a non deserving middle class. |

I think that part of NW 30 St. is probably a taxi way, so I'm going to say "Couping" Dade cops.

For now I'm enjoying a breath of fresh air and the sight of green grass with large, open, and clean parks for my toddler-- he couldn't be happier. |

Ha I get that a lot. Norcal is a much different place than when I was growing up before the tech boom. My high school-educated parents were actually home owners in what is now an ultra rich east bay suburb, believe it or not. Anyway, just tired of closed parks, majors fires every year, taxes, rolling power outages, and the growing homeless problem. California seems like it's self destructing, too bad because it's home and a beautiful state.

SO you are going to vote in the same idiots to government whose policies brought you the beautiful weather and beaches to California, into Montana, but because it's Montana the other policies they enacted that caused the closed parks, majors fires every year, taxes, rolling power outages, and the growing homeless problem will be left behind?
Enjoy that green grass and open parks while they last. Who said anything about beaches? I hate the beach! I'm not voting for any politicians or policies that bring beaches to my city! |

So true, recently left Cali with family and the prices were very high and inventory very low on uhaul trucks. Had to get the truck and trailer at separate locations... They said they've been inundated with one way reservations leaving the state. When I arrived at our destination, there was no room for our truck and they had to move me to another location to drop off. Crazy
Enjoying open parks and nice people, I feel like I just came to the United States of America after leaving california lol Now, I wonder if U-Haul is hiring drivers to backhaul all those empty trucks and trailers. Could be a good employment market. |

I assume you've never been a part of an organizing effort? It's not like you can just flip the switch and voila! Union. Nope.
Unionizing in a southern state with millions of dollars in Boeing's war chest along with hiring professional union busting firms? Good luck with that. From the 2017 organizing effort; "If they get a foothold in a plant that size, that may help in efforts to expand beyond that location," South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance president Lewis Gossett said before the vote. "I don’t know a single business person that wants a union to be successful there." The alliance, an industry coalition in Columbia, ran television spots opposing the union on local stations in the weeks before the vote, including during the Super Bowl. Residents say TV, radio and billboard advertising has been ubiquitous. Labor's weakness in South Carolina is partly due to intense opposition from local politicians. Former governor Nikki Haley, now Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, said she opposed firms with unionized labor opening facilities in her state, even though new factories would presumably mean more work for her constituents." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...have-a-chance/ It seems interesting but isn’t it harder to unionize under the RLA as opposed to the NRLA? We see airlines like SWA and AA based in a southern right to work state yet are probable the most heavily unionized. Then there is Delta and FedEx who only have one union. UPS, which is a hybrid and also a southern company is heavily unionized. But there is also Skywest (which is in a red state) that is completely non-union, and not for the lack of trying. Seems like a mixed bag. |

Everything union in the airlines is under RLA, which is federal, so the state has nothing too do with it at least as far as inter state workers are concerned. Not sure about local employee, gate agents, etc. |

I’d don’t think that it is any one thing that drives businesses to relocate, but a combination of things. A unionized workforce or slightly higher tax structure alone won’t do it, but when you combine regulatory hurdles with higher taxes and labor cost, businesses are going to go to where the grass is greener. You are right, these things aren’t mutually exclusive, but combined they do shape corporate behavior and employees can find themselves priced out of the market when existing companies leave, and new ones settle elsewhere. This decision could also be about simple logistics as well. Being that the days of building a plane from scratch in SEA are long gone, it could be that it is just easier to ship and assemble the various pieces parts in another facility.

I just spent several vacation days in CHS. I’d spent my money there vs SEA any day. I even supported our rotorhead fellow aviators and bought an R-44 ride over the town. Nice people, excellent food, good accommodations, and didn’t see a single Antifa Fascist anywhere, nor did I see anyone s@%t in the street.

That’s was part of my point. Airlines are harder to unionize because of the RLA. Whereas Boeing, even in a right to work state, would be easier to unionize under the NRLA. |

For you saps luv Virginia Gardens as much as I do, try Ping House. 5431 NW 36th St. just E of Curtiss Parkway. Egg foo young or chop suey, $10. Portions enough, anything less than JT3D appetites slurp down both lunch & dinner. Say hola for Meto. |

Seattle has dug themselves into a cesspool with a poor government decisions.
Boings upper (so called) management decimated every aspect of aircraft operations. It’s time to let a free market run its course. Let a new company with values, ideas and ethics to boost the aviation industry. |

I’d say they are getting a good deal moving to a red state. Seems to be a pattern recently 🤔 |
