Slot and gate review?
WASHINGTON, July 9 (Reuters) - An executive order to boost competition that President Joe Biden is to sign on Friday will direct U.S. regulators to review airport slots and aviation market structure issues, a White House adviser told Reuters.
White House economic adviser Bharat Ramamurti said the U.S. Transportation Department "is going to look into slot issues and other market structure competition issues... It is our goal to have more competition in the airline industry," Ramamurti said.
Rules on the allocation of airport slots have big ramifications for airline competition and market access for low-cost carriers.
"That's an area that deserves further study to figure out how to balance a variety of competing interests," Ramamurti said

I’ve been reading through these articles and they consist of zero details revolved around what any of this actually means. As of right now, this just seems like nothing but smoke and mirrors.
I was fairly young during the Obama terms, but even at a young age I picked up at how much smoke that guy blew on a daily basis. Is this just that crap all over again? I swear talk is so cheap if this crap actually works.
My BS thermometer is high when you say “we’re going to make it fair for all” and the big 3 legacy carrier stocks along with the regional SkyWest immediately shoot up today.

Well, I don’t think they are paying those high-priced lawyers to win cases at the DC Court of Appeals because they AREN’T interested in gates and slots:

And with United and others signaling the phase-out of single class 50 seat flying, I’d imagine some of those gates and slots will be coming open.

I think you mean the re-deregulation act. The original iteration was intended to allow for more competition and more affordable airfare. The big 3 right now hold a death grip on all your slot controlled airports and this is being done to allow the other carrier more equitable access in an attempt to benefit the consumer.

While they are at it, now would be a good time to look at how the EU's CDM program could possibly be implemented here. I've spent a lot of time operating intra-Europe, and it certainly streamlines things. no more number 20, 30 or 40 for takeoff during peak push
