Taxpayer burden 2020/2021

Can’t expand on here what category I am with the bailouts, but watch out!

2020/2021 bailouts…fine. Taxpayers are about to hit their limit with airline incompetence before we (pilots who want a new contract) do.

discuss amongst yourselves….

it’s the real deal. Quit smack talking how much double dippping / triple dipping you’re doing meow. I’d be very wary of starting with an airline next year or so. (Read: hired, 2021 sept or after and through this year). Until airlines prove we are worth it, there’s an unintended backlash coming…and soon.

As long as the government doesn’t shut down the economy again the airlines will be fine.

Ok, tend to agree with you, but just making sure folks don’t go all in right now, I guess. Economy is about to backslide and we’ll be on here chatting “lost year…I mean 2 years…I mean…5 years…decade” again.

dont overextend.

So stay at your regional and don’t try to join a major in the largest hiring year in airline history??
Ooookay.

Yup. If it all goes downhill all those bonuses at the regional will evaporate in a day. Better be furloughed with a number at a legacy than a lifer at a regional.

All those government handouts went everywhere. They weren't limited to airlines. One would have to have lived under a rock to think that airlines were the only recipients of government dole. That's as nice a comment as I'm able to muster about the OP.

Right because there’s a huge backlash against the meat packing industry or the chip manufacturing industry. Ect ect ect. At this point everyone understands it’s going to take a bit to unravel this mess.

Would you rather be on the street due to a regional liquidation or a major furlough? Both have pros and cons of course. The liquidated regional guy gets more sympathy and he can go anywhere without the baggage of a seniority number. He may even get a preferential interview. Some people value that. Ultimately you have to balance the +5 million pay you'll receive at a major with the benefits of being at a regional when it's liquidated.

BTW, Morgan Stanley says oil is going to $100.

Dude. Take the gun out of your mouth. Delta isn't going anywhere. You new to the industry or something?

The only thing that can hurt the airlines now is more government overreach and communist policy. People aren't going to quit flying out of spite. The economy is going to tank but not to 2008 levels. Consolidation has made the industry much less vulnerable to these cyclic events.

Joe and Suzie Walmart are a lot more interested in the cost and scarcity of groceries and filling up their cars right now. I’m pretty confident “those loathsome airlines and their freeloading ways” is not anywhere on pretty much anyone’s radar.

OP’s awareness bubble doesn’t extend very far beyond the terminal imoho. Reminds me of fans of sports teams thinking their own fans are the very worst or best at whatever while having no idea that people one stadium over think the same thing.
