Same reason all M&A happens—offensive and defensive reasons. Combination of an offensive opportunity to massively and instantly increase their growth outside of the northeast while defending/adding more in MCO/FLL. They have a path to organic growth, but the end state of what they want would take a lot longer to get there that way. This accelerates it 7-10 years. There are a finite quantity of pilots and planes (and gates), especially right now. They are now trying to hire over 1,000 pilots this year. They are growing and taking planes as fast as they can trying to take market share. This would help bigly.

They kind of hosed themselves by subjugating themselves as a regional feeder in the North East to American Airlines. They don’t have the assets to expand their flying many other places let alone staffing. There’s a finite # of pilots that want to live in New York and New England.
