Got it. Management made a crappy offer, but you are blaming your union instead.

If ALPA negotiated a retirement plan I would be gone tomorrow. ALPA is the one in bed with management not me.

I also don't think we have a pilot shortage if airlines are still flying 9 legs a day between Greenville and Charlotte, Denver and Colorado Springs, Lansing and Detroit, etc ... Seems like if they wanted to free up some crews they could reduce the flights that people can drive. |

Plenty of old articles out there explaining how pilots lost their pensions. I believe Wall Street and some hedge funds convinced companies like UAL and Delta to put all pension investments in the stock market and ALPA signed off on it.

Maybe he is getting current so he can come back now that his work is done at the ICAO.

My solution would be to do the Delta thing and replace our entire ALPA team from top to bottom. Repairing our union isn't a renovation job; it's a termite infested complete teardown and rebuild. |

Aside from forwarding lousy contracts ALPA backing the madatory retirement age is probably the dumbest move ever. Parked airplanes = lost jobs and revenue ( dues paying revenue). We all know age 60/65 rule has nothing to do with health and safety and everything to do with politics..ALPA strongly opposed it in 1958 so what changed other than people living much longer lives? Absolutely a stupid move.
