BONZA, Aussie Start Up

I wonder if this will keep more Aussies in Australia? Looks like a very 21st century millennial airline. Lol. Thoughts? |

Meanwhile Avelo pilots laugh because they get a flower and 8 stripes with their uniforms.

If there aren't mandatory hats for the pilots, it's not a real airline.
Delta 101. |
Half of our Captains here in the States will already fit in perfectly with their white sneakers!

Practical downside might be that pax might not readily recogonize pilots during an evac, but as long as they recognize you as crew of some sort it should be fine. I'd take that (or the HAL uniform) in a heartbeat. |

Funny everybody on here who bashes the Delta or United uniform…
i’m sure if you offered their pay rate in exchange for wearing the uniform and hat you would be singing a different tune. me included… |

I wouldn’t mind slacks and a polo for a dress code….

At Jetblue I’d just like to be able to simply get some shirts and pants. Our made in China ties that fall apart after a few trips are a dime a dozen but I’m at 5 months waiting for a few shirts and pants.

A trendy or “less professional” uniform ala Bonza is just another way for corporations to get you to exchange compensation for culture. It’s crazy how much compensation people will let go to not wear a suit to work, or work from home.

Are they woke? Those uniforms aren’t gender specific are they? Size me for that sun dress. The coconuts need air!

I see it with my friends that aren’t pilots. They will all name “culture” as a reason they like or stay at their jobs. Attire is a big part of that. I ask them if they would ask for more money if they had to wear a suit and tie to work and they all say yes. I then ask well how much money are you foregoing just for your casual dress code and culture. My neighbor just changed jobs for a 50% raise in compensation. He’s literally thinking about returning to his last job the regain his work from home and casual dress culture. His new job requires he dress somewhat professionally and drive 20min to an office each day. What do you think the pet Halloween costume contests and whatever other BS HR events are? All culture to make you feel more satisfied because when you’re satisfied you don’t ask for more money |

Sorry changing the uniform to something similar to a towel boy at a nice hotel gives the appearance that your are more hired help and less in command. The help will always demand and get less compensation than someone being compensated to make command decisions sometimes at the expense of owners.

The pilot uniform is all based on nautical captain/officer uniforms. And they had beards.

After all the years of Spirit, Frontier, and Allegiant Pilots complaining about Legacy pilots “looking down their noses”, or otherwise not treating LCC pilots with respect, it’s funny to watch you guys and girls bagging on Avelo Pilots. What’s the problem? Are you angry that they are willing to work for less money? Is that threatening you or your job security? You think they are lesser pilots, even though they fly comparable sized aircraft to you guys. They are pilots too.

Shouldn’t be so easily triggered. |

That’s pretty rich coming from a Delta pilot… |

Is there an E3 Visa program in place yet for AAmerican pilots?

Most corporate flight departments fly with slacks and polo, overseas uniform shirt, slacks, no tie. Many are now receptive to facial hair, too. There are options. |
Nothing says we’ll dressed like slacks and a polo

There’s always the Aussie 457 visa which is offered by regionals from time to time, however if you did the smallest amount of research you’d quickly realize it’s just not worth it. There’s a reason so many Aussies are heading to the States - unless you’ve got more than a decade seniority in Qantas you’re better off in the USA!
|
There would be lucky to be 5000-7000 current ATPL holders in Aus 2-3000 of those probably work at QF the other 2000 at VA and other random carriers. I don’t think the few hundred heading the US will make much difference. AA alone has well over 13000 pilots with the majority at retirement age in the next 5-7 years.
My numbers may be way off just spit balling, but the US job market is massive compared to down under. 10000 E3/year have been available since 1995. They rarely issue more than about 3-4000, historically not many of those would have been pilots. |
