Quote: Man, please try to process this: There is zero chance of success for a stand-alone bill or a rider for age 67. That's why they tried to bury it in the FAA reauthorization! They couldn't get it done by itself.

The FAA and ICAO don't want it. Airlines don't want it. There is no pilot shortage. The flying public is not going to rise up and demand that geezers be allowed to keep their airline jobs. The whining of entitled multimillionaires is not going to get airtime.

There are literally thousands of more important issues to Americans and Congress. Nehls may or may not even be in Congress at this time next year. Please join reality.
I certainly hope you are right! I know the raise the age folks intend to continue their efforts, and I for one sure hope they fail
Quote: and GOP controls congress, then it might get resurrected.
Thank you for the reminder that elections have consequences. Vote appropriately.
So you’re saying there’s still a chance?

The raise the age folks are about as effective as the anti-nuke peace vigil that’s been outside of the White House for decades. I imagine it’s still there…
Yes, people are aware of it. Yes, there are some in congress that introduce bills on their behalf. No, they haven’t made any real progress. Any nuclear drawdown is more likely due to other factors like costs or agreements between other countries.
For the foreseeable future, the skies are more likely to be filled with nukes than airline pilots 66 years old.

Geez. I hope you’re wrong. It’s going to happen eventually and I hope it’s the 66. If not who cares what age it is.

I say ALPA gets ahead of this issue and lobbies to drop the ATP age to 22.

I’d be fine with that. I’m already flying with restricted atp in the right seat who can hold Airbus captain. Just waiting to turn 23. Never thought that would happen.

so, sink the country rather than risk age 67 ?

I don't think continuing to turn the US into a third world country is worth blocking age 67.... if that's what was being implied.

You need a better news diet. You can certainly be critical of the administration but to ignore all the great things that are happening while saying we are becoming a 3rd would country is ignorant.

And for the record, going into 2020, while I didn't care for a lot of things that the previous administration did, i also acknowledged that there were positive policy moves that I agreed with.
Just curious as to what the great things happening are?
