Do you have a side hustle?
I'm curious as to what you all get up to in your spare time for a bit of extra cash. I have met real estate agents and investors, farmers, bar owners, loan officers and airbnb hosts.
How did you get into your side hustle? Has the extra effort on top of flying been worth it? How much extra time do you spend working on your other business ? Can it survive a 4 day trip with no input from you?

Heck, I flew with a guy whose son owned a tattoo parlor, so he spent $100 k on a laser tattoo removal machine and opened up shop right next to his son’s studio. Surprisingly, together they made a killing!
For $10k I could get you in on a “Serenity by Jan” scented candle franchise. Also remember: there’s always money in a frozen banana stand.

…I worked at this local bike shop(part time) to help out the owner in 2021, mostly easy mechanical fixes on road bikes. Employees are now back so I no longer work there.
I’m also now working once a week as a range safety officer at my favorite outdoor range. Not really a side hustle, just helping out “friends” who are willing to barter for goods in return!

I had an F/O that ran a gun store selling automatic weapons to police departments. He started out making AR-15's out of his garage. He also owned one or two fast food places in malls. Of course he had partners, that was the only way to juggle that much and still fly.

Had a guy in the jumpseat say he just opened a tire installation shop. Not tire sales, just installation. Said most people buy their tires on Amazon or order online so they need somebody to install them once they are delivered. $20 a tire. Dude makes over $300:hr as a pilot. Didn’t seem worth the hassle for the hustle.
