maybe you guys can tell me,

How many hours does the typical airliner fly in a 24hr period?

Is there a certain number of pilots or crews per airplane ?

The reason I ask is, we have 3 citations at our little 135 operation. In the average month we put anywhere from 25 to 45hrs on each airplane. with 3 pilots per aircraft. Just wondering how the big boys do it.

I think most airlines shoot for 5-8 crews (10-16 pilots) per airframe. As for flight time, I'm sure it varies widely, but I would think 8-15 hours per day. Obviously, the international flights may be more.
