Default SWA reserve time

Hi, I'm looking at SWA, and since I'm located on the east coast and BWI is a junior base for SWA, I have some questions about the reserve reporting time.

What is the time from phone call to reporting for SWA if you are on reserve? 90 minutes, 3 hours, 6 hours? I plan on living in the Norfolk area, so 6 hours would work for travel time to BWI, and if not, I have some buds in DC I could stay with and be much closer if its only 90 minutes. I guess with 6 hours it would be a dangerous game depending on traffic, even with it only being a 4 hour drive.

Thanks.

90 minutes would be dangerous too from DC depending on time of day...I'd find a crashpad close to BWI, I'm sure there are plenty available.

You have two hours from the time they call until you have to be checked in at the lounge. This is not possible from ORF.

Also, BWI is not that junior for FO's as of late.

I'm sure the people at SWA are anxiously awaiting your application and are ecstatic that you would even consider "looking" at them. Maybe you could call Herb and have him open ORF as a base so it wouldn't inconvenience you.

LOL, thanks for the sarcasm.

I guess I should start mentally preparing myself for the reality that it would be better for me to just apply to every airline I can think of, and be so grateful to have been selected by whomever hires me, that I pack up my family and move to the junior domicile, wherever that may be.

That would be opposed to my apparent mistake of "looking at" my first choice, to understand what my obligation would be in regard to commute, time, finances, etc, should I actually be lucky enough to get my first choice.

Oakland is most junior right now. Nobody seems to know where Vegas will fit when it opens in October.

I have heard that Orlando is second junior.

Wow, that's awesome. My wife was just talking about the possibility of moving to San Francisco last week. I guess I need to add that I'm not being presumptious in assuming that I'd get the job, just noting that the junior domicile of my first choice is near where the wife might like to live.

You should put out apps everywhere. 1. To increase your odds of landing a job. 2. For interview experience when the one you want to work for invites you to meet them. 3. SWA first time pass rate is 20-30% per interview group. There were four of us SWA 'rejects' in my class at Brown. One, a retired Navy 737 driver and a very likable dude.
