DAL and CAL training pay

Does anyone know what Delta and Continental pay during training? I also saw somewhere that CAL will pay for your hotel while in training...can someone confirm that??

CAL pays you, pays for the hotels, plus gives you per diem for expenses while in trianing. You're in training full time, so the per diem is non stop. I'm not sure what you get paid per hour. You are type rated on every aircraft CAL flys and you train for, so whatever you get assigned in training you will get a type rating. 737, 757/767, or 777 (plus, soon the 787).

You make $30/hour your first year (which is way too low). You get paid 2:24 hours per day in training while a line pilot (also too low). You should get at least $116 per day in training. I'm not sure if that is the same for new hires?

CAL also gives you positive space passes to/from home during training and you get a minimum 2 consecutive days off per week.

Is that 1 pass to training and 1 back or is that as many as you can take while in training.

Also does anyone know what the actual pay is during initial training in addition to the info Otto put out?? Thanks

I stole this from another post, I think from here on APC:

Delta Pays their new hire pilots 2750 per month in training. It is payed out ever two weeks. Health care and other deductions are taken out of that money. If you live over 75 miles away from ATL you get a hotel for the two weeks of indoc. If not, you do not. During training you are responsible for your lodging. The flip is that every time that you have training in the future you will have a hotel, even ATL based pilots. Flight bennies and health care from Day 1 and anytime you have a break in training more than 48 hrs you are given positive space home to see your family.

Also DAL's health coverage begins day one for you and essentially day one for your family. I believe it's a six month wait at CAL. Delta only types FO's on 76er, 777, 76400. i think that's right.

You get one pass to training, one pass from, and round trips in between when you have 48 hours off. I came home every break I got during training. You are guaranteed two consecutive days off per week of training during which you can use positive space to go home. The only catch is that the passes either have to be to an airport near your home of record or your domicile.

As for pay, during training you are paid based off of a 72 hour month. So your daily pay while in training is 2 hours and change per day. You also get $44ish bucks per day in perdiem ($1.85 per hour x 24 hours). In addition CAL pays your hotel for the full duration of training.

Sorry I was lazy and didn't do the math on the exact totals but hopefully you get the idea.

Out of curiosity, anyone know the monthly cost for Delta's health insurance for a family of 4?

HercAC 07-10-2007 01:22 PM

You also get to keep the hotel rewards points at CAL.
