Default Safety Razor on the go

Maybe the wrong forum for this, but figure there’s more old school guys in these parts.

I’ve tried over the years to haul around different versions of a safety razor/brush/soap with me on the road with varying degrees of frustration. Usually it’s something cobbled together from things I’ve rotated out of my home setup, but either too bulky or disfigured brushes or travel bits that just don’t travel well. I default back to a super close shave on departure day and touch up with a mach3 & foam on the road, but since I opt for 3/4 day pairings either I tear up my face or deal with that collar irritation from inadequate shave.

Anyone found a decent travel setup that works on the go but packs/cleans well?

Are you checking your bag? Aren’t safety razors prohibited in carry-one by TSA?

Razors

Merkur 34C (comes with a travel case).
Edwin Jagger travel-sized brush (comes with a case).
You can use any hotel-room paper coffee cup as a mixing bowl.

I use a Gillette fusion blade that hasn’t been changed in 2 months and some edge shave gel. Never had road rash on my neck ever in my life.

Safety razors are a no-go with TSA. They might not notice because they're so small, but I wouldn't want to get caught with one.

My travel solution is gillete sensor excel two-blade cartridge razors, with any sensitive skin shave gel. Old school but you can still get them.

Two blades is best for cartridges. More than that will just irritate your skin with no added benefit. One blade lasts for a four-day; it helps to dry the blades when finished.

Not exactly, in my experience.

Razors
"One time, TSA couldn't even figure out what it was. I told them it was a razor (didn't have a blade installed) and they were cool with my explanation.
The second time they thought it was a mining, or rock shaping tool, as if I were Andy Dufresne."

These days, my bag is too big for the overhead bin, so it's always checked.

I carry a schick 5-blade razor (disposable cartridges) in my bag, with a four pack of cartridges; they'll last a long time, along with a travel-size can of shaving cream (barbasol, usually). It will easily last a few weeks on the road, and the razor will last six weeks or so. I can get by five or six months on four cartridges, with daily use.

Over the years, I've had all kinds of little blades or devices get confiscated by this country or that. Nor worth it, and while I use a brush and bar for soap at home, it's a lot easier to carry the travel size can on the road.
