A question for you young bucks. Which airline DL or UA has the best seniority progression outlook if hired today? I'm doing some research for my kid. He has 35+ years to work.

I know your special dad but for the rest of the 99% of us imagine if your dad got on here to research seniority progression at delta vs United for you. That would be mind blowing

Short term definitely UAL.
But longer term, somebody with access to the retirement numbers would have to answer that, there might be more demographic bubbles in either or both lists down the road.

Widgetseniority.com has lots of good info for delta specifically but also has a page that compares the seniority progression of all 3 carriers. Assuming both carriers remain about the same size as each other, It looks like UA and DL are +/- 5% throughout your son’s carrier.
DL is better til about 2030
then UA is better until 2050
then DL is better for the remainder of the chart that goes out til 2053.
AAL has a 10+% advantage over the other two for the next 30 years.
someone hired today at 30 at DL would retire around # 900

Smart question, but dont' think it's an answerable one.
Even if there was some way to compare relative seniority at DL vs UA for first/second/final third of your career ... what's to say that the "value" of that seniority to you is gonna be the same over time.
Yeah, everyone likes being senior, but some people get more curveballs from life than others.
