Quote: Why not just buy the J-Hook from Briggs and Riley? It's not perfect, but with a few modifications i got it there.

Probably because at the shortest setting it was 11ft long. I have one and I haven't dedicated the time to figuring out how to shorten in. The strap it came with is fine and doesn't take that long to operate.

I saw an American airline pilot has upgraded his smartlink to J hook but didn't get a chance to stop him and ask. Has anyone tried connecting J-hook metal part to smart link? If so which J hook have you used?

Also, anyone upgraded wheel to rollerblade type? I noticed a bit of noise when dragging it in hotel lobby (tile surface) while Captain's LW was very quiet. Thanks in advance!
I too, want to change wheels. They are the weakest link when it comes to this bag. Love everything about it but the loud and shoddy wheels must go.

I took the wheels and spacers off my Luggageworks and they fitted the BR no problem.

As if overnight, I’m seeing more and more BR bags around the crew rooms. It was easier to find mine before

Okay....I need details.

I was going to have my wife cut the threads, shorten it and sew it up again with her machine.

Cut it to the desired length, use a lighter to melt the end of the cut so it doesn't fray (only works on synthetic material, which is almost certainly is). I'd probably sew it, If I had a wife who could do that.

Did you expect anything less “boomerish” from the guy supporting age 67…

I put roller blade wheels on mine, I just needed to go to Home Depot and buy some nylon washers to use as spacers since the wheels I bought are a little narrower than the B&R wheels. Much quieter than the stock wheels.
