Question Latest on Airtran Interviewing/Hiring?

I had my resume walked in about a month ago. I've got competitive numbers, but so far all I've heard are a few crickets and the occasional car pass by. Any recent news on AirTran?

Supposedly, we're hiring 280-300+ this year. There's a lot of uncertainty though with the possible Midwest merger. Lot's of interesting things going on behind the curtain. There's also a lot of grumbling about our disgusting TA, (which WILL be properly voted down.) Most of the new folks I've seen have been a good mix of T-prop and RJ Capt's with 700-3000+ PIC. Keep on it and you'll get the call. Internal recs are pretty important. Good luck to you!

How long does it take to get an interview offer? I've heard everything from 2 weeks to 12 months from the time you send a resume. Is there a standard time??

I just got on "the list" after about a year of visiting Chief Pilots and having good friends walk my resume in.

However, I am in training at Delta already; so when they call there will be an opening for one of you guys.

No standard time that I know of. You guesstimate is a good one. Tell your friend to keep bugging HR, and visit the Chief Pilot's office when your in the ATL. A lot of the applicants also seem to come from Air Inc shows, unfortunately. Seems like a scam but seems to work for many. The more they see your face and hear your name the better. Lots of good people over here.

I attended the Air Inc conference on 19 May. 4 weeks later I got a call from AirTran for an interview. I interviewed 2 weeks ago and 7 days after the interview they called and offered me a job. I start in September and I can't wait. It all happened much faster than I thought it would. I think the face to face time at an Air Inc conference is WELL worth it. Good Luck!

Do you think the Midwest merger will be a bad thing? How do you think this will affect the new hires?

I attended the AirInc Conference in May as well. I got the call about 2 weeks after the conference for an interview. I interviewed about a month ago. It took them about 14 days to call me and offer me the job, I have class start date of October 1st, 2007.
