I believe the following is right out of our contract.

pit-tance: a noun

1. a very small amount or share.
2. a small allowance or sum, as of money for living expenses.
3. a scanty income or remuneration.
4. a meager monetary allowance, wage, or remuneration.

[Middle English pitance, from Old French, allowance of food to a monk or poor person, from Medieval Latin pietantia, from *pietāns, *pietant-, present participle of *pietāre, to show compassion, from Latin pietās, piety; see pity.]

Good one. Unfortunately, I believe that it is true.

Pay raise in 08? It might be a christmas card left on the captains seat with a few dollars in it. I don't think any significant pay raise is due until, at the soonest, 2009. Realistically, 2010. But who knows. I think bifff15 has a more accurate model than I.

I did hear a few rumors from various sources that that "FIN" program is working and the company is "talking" and they are bringing the checkbook. I know our ALPA attorney said something about 4% which is complete B.S. but maybe this is a sign that we may be on the road to recovery in reguard to our ALPA contract.

I know the Wilson Poll that ALPA is working with shows that 70% of the Pilot group EXPECTS at least a 30% increase in pay on the next contract if NOT MORE!

Personally I think we will get "some if not all" back in the next contract however we will have to weather a Merger first, just one guys opionon.

1/1/08 increase of 1% to the payrates OR to the B-Plan (defined contribution); pilots voted last year to send the 1% to the B-Plan...

The payrates remain at the rates for 2007 and the B-plan is now 9% + 7% (vs 6%) thru the life of the contract. Next scheduled payrate increaese is 5/1/08 of 1.5%

Even 2010 is a joke. The contract is not amendable until the very end of 2009. There's no way UAL is not going to drag it out for at least 2-3 years after that.

Good luck

Be careful of rumors. In this case it will tend to get peoples hopes up and will be nothing more than a big let down should it not come to fruition. Tilton has said we have a contract that runs until late 2009. I don't expect he will negotiate pay raises between now and then as he would be seen as capitulating to labor unions.

FIN has fixed nothing to date. Yes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed but the reality is what it is.

Should a merger occur expect to stagnated in this contract for several years past it's expiration. Reason: the company / management has the leverage of leaving it that way to their advantage. I hope we do get back as much as possible, however I will believe it when I see it.

Just another guys opine.

Here is a copy of the current UAL Pilot contract I found on another website. Hope this helps answer all your questions.
