I am quite possibly the most socially retarded regular poster on APC and I can see what everyone is calling you out for.

When you say "precious" so much I now think you are Gollum.

I presume you collected unemployment during your furlough.
There was a time there was no such thing as unemployment insurance.
Caring people in the government developed this safety net that, to my knowledge, exists to varying degrees in all 50 states.
Like all organizations, unemployment offices have employees whose empathy varies. My experience during periods of unemployment was that most people had empathy. IOW, they did care, and worked to ensure I got my earned benefits while protecting the tax payers from fraud.

Life isn't fair.
I was born in a year that had me graduate from high school the same year that the USA and North Viet Nam signed the peace treaty. Two older brothers and 3 brothers-in-law weren't so lucky. They, and many co-workers over the years, did not resent my good fortune. Had I not RECOGNIZED and appreciated my good fortune, then I would have probably been resented. And deservedly so.

I have an easy life, sipping tea while typing this in a warm clean home. In a safe neighborhood. In a safe country.
Compared to about half of our 'brothers and sisters' my life vicissitudes have been negligible. Probably yours as well.
Marvel at your good fortune and be happy for those who have had even fewer downturns then you have.
Life is to be enjoyed. Bitterness destroys the best of wines.

If still reading, thanks for tolerating the preaching.
