We have a few ex. TWA/AA guys...and I think they will go when they are called; That is alright, they are senior to me:)
I had heard that they are being a little more "picky" because of the amount of problems some where having with the init. bus school. Maybe they are thinking that more TT will help????? doubt it. Personally, it should be the "type" of time over TT. I do believe that they are hiring "Capts." so as to when it is time to upgrade they will be ready. Some of our Wizz Kids look as though they have to be dropped off at the airport by their parents...geesh they look young! |
5000 for spirit is a joke. Many airlines pay WAY more money and have much lower mins.

Hi!
The FAA said that by 2011 the pax numbers will be up by 26%. The number of ATP pilots will be flat. The number of commercial pilots will decline. But there's not a shortage-oh no. cliff YIP |
"Such as...?"
Such as money wise??? SWA, CAL, DAL, AS,AirTran, B6(A320), FDX, UPS...you can even throw in UA in there prob. The mins will come down. 5000 to fly 319 (and make 40, 52, 56, sure once in a while you might be able to get the 321 rates $5-7/hr more WOW) as a FO is really a JOKE. A regional CA with that sort of time will be taking a pay cut for a while. Therefore you guys will not be getting quality pilots, and the mins will come down. Don’t take offence Short Bus, just stating the obvious |
threegreen... I am a newbie at Spirit. I will make $5,000.00 this month...not including per diem. I had 15 days off this month as well. sometimes the $$ amount posted on the pay scales in not the whole story. Spirit has pretty good work rules all things considered. Spirit also has to potential for a very fast upgrade. Most of the Airlines you mentioned would have you spending far more time in the Right seat than would spirit.

More than anything they are going to miss out on some quality pilots who will move to Delta, CAL, UAL, NWA, Airtran, etc., instead of waiting until they have 5000 hours. If you are in the left seat of an RJ, it doesn't matter if you have 3500 hours or 10,000 hours. You can either learn a new aircraft or not. Once you are an RJ Captain for a year or two, more time is not going to make you more apt to pass initial training in an Airbus.

I think this might be a mistake. I just spoke to D.C. in the hiring department and she told me that the "unofficial" mins were 4000TT/1000PIC. BTW I just finished initial myself and everyone in the class had at least 1000TPIC.
