can any of you guys recommend any good books or literature that can help expand a regionals pilots knowledge as he prepares for the majors.

"Mental Math for Pilots" is really good.

Another plug for Mental Math for Pilots. Also, I know it's not what you were asking specifically, but I've found the Jeppesen Instrument Commercial Manual is a great reference book to have around.
