As an FO who has been a PIC before, i'd have zero desire to run-the-trip from the right seat. What does that even mean? I'd politely decline this arrangement, I suppose it's a kind genuine offer though. I'd like to just swap legs, engage in chit chat, and go home.

Most major FO's have been PICs before (minus the recent demographic bubble).

Mentoring mostly isn't required, other than setting a good example.

Letting the SIC role play CA was a thing back at the regionals, and it probably was useful for some who weren't naturally very assertive.

If somebody said they're about to upgrade and asked for pointers, that would be different.
