From Alaskasworld.com:

"The airline is working on plans to increase the number of captains and first officers it trains each month from 12 to 16 and will hire 15 to 20 more crews in early 2008 above Alaska’s baseline plan."

For entirely personal and selfish reasons, I hope everyone applies to Alaska. It will only mean my friend there has more warm bodies behind him than ahead of him.

How long does it take to hold a line in LAX? Also what is Alaska asking for in their pay negotiations, and how are the negotations going? Thanks.

To give you an idea, I was placed in SEA in new-hire (4-23-07), and just got awarded LAX, effective Jan 2008. I'll be 91 out of 108: Around 75 lines with open flying/reserve. All this is ONLY ESTIMATED, and it could/will change. Good luck in decision making.

at 91, you should hold at least an open line. i was about 104-107 and was usually a few away from holding one each month. usually at least 5-10 senior guys bid reserve down there.

how's it going so far up in SEA??

You should be able to hold anything in short order. After all the shifting of bases there are still vacancies as follows..

27 ANC
6 SEA
7 LAX

The estimated number of flying lines are:

01Jan2008

M80
SEA 43

737
ANC 71
LAX 75
SEA 278

Officially,
To date, new tentative agreements have been reached on 10 sections. An additional 6 sections and 12 Letters of Agreement were determined to be acceptable as currently written. Fifteen sections remain open. Talks will continue almost every week during the next few months with proposals being exchanged on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Unofficially,
