A Question for the AirTran Guys/Gals

I was recently offered and accepted a Sep class date - very excited about that, BTW. My current 1st class medical expires right before the class starts. Do I need to show up on day one with a new 1st class medical or am I good with the one I have now which will have lapsed into a 2nd class? A related question is does the company require FOs to get a first class every 6 months or can you just get one once a year?

Thanks

I don't know about coming to class without a current 1st class, but AirTran does not require you to get one every six months.

I don't have a copy of the current labor agreement, but the tentative agreement (yeah, the one that's controversial and probably will be voted down) says that FOs only need to have a 2nd class.

I'm pretty sure it's the same on the current agreement in force, but would like to hear from a current AirTran pilot.

You don't need a current 1st class medical, it may be lapsed to 2nd class.

Congrats to you, and welcome to the company! Just looked at my old newbie packet and it said under "Things to Bring to class"...Current First Class Medical. That's almost a year old though so it may have changed. I doubt it's a big of a deal. Just wait till your packet comes and see what it says. Again, congrats and good luck in training.

Hate to crack your walnuts, but your first class medical won't lapse into anything, It still stays a first class medical 6 months after issue, only the priveledges associated with the medical change. :o
