I know the TWA pilots liked PBS where it was administered by their Union. But I would trust AAL to Administer a Flu Shot!

Although PBS for reserves would be a little better. We bid on reserve schedules that the base planner creates with no pilot input.

They suck, I get one whole weekend off a month.

Meant to write "I would NOT trust AAL to Administer a Flu shot"

May i ask how your reserves get to greenslip? Does Crew Sched send out a mssg saying "We are accepting greenslips for short on reserve coverage"
Or does a Reserve guy just put his pref in for a grennslip and hope for one?

you pretty much have to have it in and hope for the best. Having said that, you can look at the reserves required vs reserves available and you can see when you are likely to get a greenslip. We can also look at the daily trip coverage to see what trips are being given out and how they are being covered. If you look at the trip coverage, and they have given out a greenslip, its a good time to put in the request cause they are likely to give out more.

As I said before, a greenslip is a greenslip. Its not like they offer it up to regular line holders before a reserve line holder. If they get to greenslips in the trip coverage sequence, then it goes by a combo of seniority and number of greenslips. I say this because we have a fair number of relatively senior pilots who bid reserve. That plus, due to the vagaries of the PBS system, a pilot junior to you can end up getting a regular line while you get reserve.
