Default Driving Record (CAL)

Just curious, does anyone know how far back the driving record check goes?

Thanks

Default Ndr

http://www.nhtsa.gov/portal/site/nht...2e610cba046a0/

Check out this site. This is what I got from that:

Information on the NDR file that was reported by the states during the past 5-years and any withdrawal action still in effect will be disclosed.

Hope that helps.

It varies with airlines but as an example, NWA checks driving record to the very beginning of your driving record. Some checks up to 10 years.
My advice to you is disclose even minor traffic tickets, as they will be disclosed when airline HR checks your driving record. It is better to be upfront about this matter. Few speeding tickets will not affect your chance of getting hired since just about everyone has at a speeding ticket or two.

It really depends upon which state your License(s) are/have been in. For example, FL keeps records for life, whereas IL only goes back 3 years, then they toss everything (except serious stuff like DUI's, or anything carying a criminal charge). If you are in a state like IL, if you don't want to tell them about, they can't find out beyond 3 years. Anyway, most airlines only pull your stuff from the National Driver Register, which usually only carries serious offenses such as DUI, vehicular homicide, etc. Hope that helps.

I disagree. Most states do keep records of minor violations and my airline for example gets reports directly from individual states. At any case the point is, trhey will know you are lying if you tell them you have never gotten a traffic ticket, unless of course you are one of those rare individuals who never speeds.

Check with the state you live in. Virginia at one time was 10 years, I now think it's 3 or 5 years. Also don't forget to not only check with the state you live in now, check with past states also. Not sure about CAL, some airlines will tell you how far back they are interested in.

I didn't say they didn't keep track of minor violations- I SAID beyond so many years in certain states the only thing that will come up are the most serious of violations. I know -I've seen my NDR and state report- A traffic ticket I got(2yrs ago) DID show up on the state report- but not on the NDR.

Make sure and be careful or your ndr report they goofed mine up and if i wasn't on top it to catch it on time , would have cost me my career. It was a name mix up and other individual had a horrble record. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE EXACT COPY IN YOUR POSITION THAT IS FURNISHED TO YOUR CARRER OF CHOICE> GET A COPY OF YOUR NDR BEFORE THE AIRLINE SENDS FOR ONE.
