Default Alaska buys Hawaii Vacations Inc. and $100mil in its own stock.

Looks like they are emptying their pockets so they can cry to the pilots over pay raises. Another page out of the typical playbook.

I wonder if non-reving ANC to Hawaii will be easier or harder now?

Non-reving: Probably harder since planes will be smaller and likely more booked to capacity. The $25 each-way special HV used to give out to local Anchorage aviation companies will be gone. And Alaska's non-rev tickets will surely be more.

Jumpseating: harder, or maybe same. HV never allowed jumpseaters before, but it was usually easy to get on a NW 757 because there were so many open seats in the back.

Synopsis: Usual increased pain for non-revs. More efficiency/better load factors for airlines/operator = more profits.

You ain't seen nothin yet when it comes to using the playbook. With the guys that are running Alaska it is going to get a lot worse. We are headed to mediation after the company delays as long as they can.
