1. 42 minutes for the 42 question knowledge test. Computer Test with mouse...point and click one of three multiple answers. You will be provided with a sheet of paper and one pencil for the test. The time remaining will be on the lower right portion of the screen. The proctor will collect your scratch paper after the test.

2. 50 minutes for a psyche test 240 questions. Questions like I LIKE POETRY. Answers Strongly Disagree-Disagree-Neutral-Agree-Strongly Agree. ( It is NOT good to put Neutral...indicates you are hiding something).

3. Cog Test contains several sections... lumosity is good for mental preparation but the COG is straight forward.....I will post the sections next...

Cog Test:

You will use the same computer for ALL tests; knowledge, Psyche, Cog. The psyche and cog test are all touch screen response driven tests. You can use the same pencil that you used for the knowledge test to touch the screen. The cog test has several sections:

One Section dealt with memory. You will have three boxes in a row with the numbers 1 2 3 inside each box. There is another box that is above the center box or box 2. It is empty before the test begins...when the test begins a number will appear in the top box. It will be replaced by another number about one sec later. Your task is to wait for the number to be replaced and then touch the appropriate box for the number that was just replaced. This "number replacement remember the previous number" will continue to sequence until the test is over.

Another section deals recognition and response. This section contains a box of six symbols U X L T - O. Under each symbol is a corresponding number 1 2 3 4 5 6. For ex. U =1, X = 2, etc... You will then see a two row grid with about ten of these symbols in random order. The top row contains the symbols and the bottom row contains the empty box where you will put the right number with the symbol. You will have 90 secs to complete as many grids as you can...there is a reference of the symbols and matching numbers to help you while you do this section. BUT remember the "symbols to number match up" because this section will ask you TWICE between testing.

Cog Test Continued....

Another section tests pattern recognition/rule recognition. You will have the three boxes in a row with a box on top of the center box set-up again. You will be given three rule which are as follows:

Border Rule
Arrow Rule
Arrow Direction Rule
.... again very straight forward.

Another section tests involve eye scan/match up. You will have four boxes...one on each corner of the screen and another box in the center for a total of five boxes. Each corner box will have a number and you will have to touch the center of one of the four corner boxes that contains the number you are looking for... box starting from number 1 all the way up unto the section stops (about 14 numbers). The numbers in all the boxes reset after you touch the correct number. If you don't touch the correct number the center box reminds you of the correct sequence

Another Section contains multi-tasking/memory.... you will have to balance vertical line on a fulcrum using the left/right keys on your non-dominant hand while doing the box memory test(mentioned above).

Note: All the sections have instructions and practice sessions. I suggest practice twice per section to make sure you understand what is being asked of you. The test wants you to be quick yet accurate.

Thanks for posting this! The one thing I haven't seen alot about on APC is the DAL cog test. WFF has the knowledge test covered but this takes some of the mystery away.

Last but not least....

There are three more sections of the COG test:

One section involves a signalman holding a flag. It is a recognition response kind of test that is also based on a quick and accurate response. A signalman will appear on the screen and your job is to pick which hand that the flag is in.... the signalman's hand. So, if the signalman is facing you with the flag in his right hand...DO NOT SAY IT IS THE LEFT HAND JUST BECAUSE THE FLAG IS ON YOUR LEFT... it is based on the signalmans hand position. The signalman will be placed in several positions...facing you, with his back to you, facing you upside down, and with his back to you upside down. Recognize which hand that the signalman is holding the flag and respond in a timely manner.

Another Section requires that you wear a headset and listen to two tones in succession. There will be two boxes that are spaced next to each other in a row. The box on the left will be labeled SAME... the box on the right will be labeled DIFFERENT. The tone you will hear may be three to six tones in length. The tone will be ONLY be repeated twice and you have a few secs to determine if it is the same tone or different. It is really obvious when it is different.

One more section is a two part section involving a circle and another same/different category. The circle is divided length-wise into three parts. The top third of the circle is red, the center is beige, and the bottom third is also red. There is a white horizontal line that starts in the center of the circle that moves up and down into the top and bottom red zones. Your objective is to hit the center box[touch screen] to center the horizontal line when it enters the red zone. The line bobbles up and down so MAKE SURE IT IS COMPLETELY IN THE RED PORTION before you center it. One you go through a series of these you will have to then do a multi-task execise that involves this circle.
What happens next is that you will have two sets of number/letter arrangements that will be next to each other above a SAME and DIFFERENT box. For example 2V09 2V09....use the touch screen and touch the same on the screen. Another may be 48HK6 48HXG... THIS WOULD BE DIFFERENT. Remember it is a timed event so be diligent and accurate.

Now comes the fun part.... you will have to do the "center the line in the circle exercise" while doing the "match the numbers/letters" exercise together. The trick is to pick the numbers while scanning the circle. You will be able to pick the numbers/letters most of the time while the vertical line in the circle is trying to distract you. But remember to center the line in the circle when it eventually gets in the red.

All in all ... I think it is about 11 sections that focus on memory recall, and recognition and response times.

Actually, the fourth guy was ours too--Navy guy we helped. 4/4 was a very good day... Can't promise everyone will get the same results but I do think we can help!

Stop it! You guys are giving me flashbacks to when I interviewed here seven years ago. The ball of light on the teeter totter, the number sequences, patterns, do you like to torture small animals. Aaaaggghhh. It's all coming back to me as if it was yesterday and it's more than I can take. But then they tell you those two words that make it all better "You're hired". And then its off to your happy place. Here's to everyone getting to their happy place. It really is fantastic at mother D no matter what anyone says.

Here's another shameless plug for Aaron and the Emerald Coast team. His prep was thorough and focuses right at the core of solid interviewing skills. I got offers from both DAL and SWA in a large part due to skills I learned to develop from the consulting session. Without ever having interviewed for a job before and with an entirely military background, I would have been eaten alive without taking the time to gain the proper intelligence and insight on how to suceed.
