There is so much ill will towards ALPA from the many former members here that ALPA will never make it on the property. It's not just the USAir guys either. There was a push way back before the USAir/AW stapling that went exactly nowhere. I have asked most of the pilots I have flown with here what their opinion of ALPA is. The results are about 98% anti-ALPA, 1% for, 1% don't care either way.

I'll spare you my reasons why I personally wouldn't vote for them, but I will support JBPA. I'm already registered but I won't be able to make the meeting.

An in-house union will be much more accepted by the pilot group here than ALPA. If we can't agree on what kind of representation we want, the pilot group will never be unified.

WE have over 300 exUSAIR pilots most of whom are resentful of Alpa because of the America West merger.

We also have a lot of Comair, Mesa and other regionals who are resentful are Alpa because they feel Alpa drop the ball when pilots had the upper had before 2001 and could have had one list and no branded flying among other things.

We have a lot of Military guys who are at an airline for the first time. They tend to be major Koolaid-drinkers anti union types, specially anti alpa. That is not to say that after 1 or 2 years of getting screw they don't change their minds, but they are very anti union from the beggigning and specially anti-alpa, as they seem to only have heard the bad and the ugly , not the good.

Due to this kind of pilot demograpic we felt an in-house union has a better chance of winning with an overwhelmong majority of the pilot vote, and that is extremely important.

with 2,000 pilots and the legal help of the SWAPA and APA outside legal firm we felt we would have a better change of winning union representation if we went in-house. once the interest cards are sent for the NMB, Alpa, IBT JBPA and any other unions looking to represent the JetBlue Pilot group can come and campaing. but the interest card campaing push is being driven and funded by JBPA and its bad of brothers.

I'm glad to see you are on board fin, if a self proclaimed kool-aid lover supports JBPA we are in good shape.

I'll ask Mike to make sure there is a conference call in the meeting so everyone can listen in. I'll be on my way to LGB that day.

Conference call would be good. I'm not sure where I'll be yet but I hope to listen in.

I just sent an e-mail to the info address. I haven't been on the site in a while and lost my username/password. I'll be checking it more now that things seem to be underway.

IMHO, a good judgment call. Down the road should the group feel it's advantageous to merge with another union, I'm sure the door will be open.

One step at a time.
