Since you already have a 4 year college degree, you are fine. If I were you, I would get an MBA. You already have a bachelors level degree. The next step is a masters degree. I am pretty sure Delta is one of the airlines that has said higher level degrees increase your chances of getting hired. An MBA is a great choice.

There is nothing wrong with getting an associates degree in aviation (since you already have a 4 year college degree). However, it is really not necessary. A degree in aviation does not increase your chances of getting hired, anywhere. Getting an associates degree after you already have a bachelors degree is like getting a recreational pilots license after you already have a private pilots license? What's the point??

If you feel like getting more education (good for you), I would get an MBA. It is the most useful.

To answer the poster:

You meet the minimum qualifications, so you are set!

You have that bachelor's degree, if you want to study something else, then that is a personal decision. If its something you want to do and have the money, then I say go for it. Just remember its not going to really help beyond the networking that will occur as a side effect.

If you are planning on going into management at some point, then the MBA may be a good idea, but it probably isn't worth postponing getting a job and building some experience. There are some great online programs out there.

There are quite a few UPS pilots without degrees that came from the early days of the airline. In 1988, UPS started the airline by hiring guys that were already flying UPS stuff under contract. Some of those included Evergreen, Ryan, Orion, and maybe a few others. True freight dawg stuff.

When UPS started hiring off the street, the degree thing became pretty standard, as it was for that time and has become even more so. You could get hired without a degree, maybe, but your quals had to be quite a bit higher to over come it.

Today, UPS is considered one of the best jobs in the industry, not like it was in 1990. As such, they can pick and choose to a pretty high standard. Getting on without a degree, today, would be quite a feat.

No 747 here, but an ERJ at XJET. Which is a major, sort of, when you hold it up to the light... at an angle.;)
