Default New pilot base for Airtran

Any rumors or speculation on if, when, and where the new pilot base will be or announced at least. I was just curious. There were rumblings about a new base when I interviewed. They would not comment other then to say a new base might be coming. Any thoughts or rumors.

I heard from my uncle's, best friend's, ex-wife's, new fiancee's, dog trainer's sister that it will be STL.

I think it is pretty credible, don't you?

I had a short stay at AirTran and the new base was coming for the pilots then, that was late 2004 early 2005. DFW and BWI were the most mentioned. A friend of mine from there who also left said that the last rumor he had heard was that it would come after the contract. He also mentioned that they were talking about virtual bases for the pilots. Believe it when you are based in the new base. I think the rumors are more wishful thinking from the people who live in these cities, although DFW was a base for ValuJet.

There have been new domicile rumors ever since they closed MCO and IAD.

I was at the job fair in DFW tonight. While waiting to speak to an Airtran rep, I heard a captain tell the guy he was talking to that Tampa might be in the future.

I interviewed there on 1/8/08 (have 2/25 class date) and our interview group was told by all three of the interviewers that MCO was opening for pilots.

MatthewAMEL..................can you talk a little about your interview experience? I know there are other places with gouge, but you just got hired.

1. How long after interview did you hear the good news?
2. What was the interview like and who with?
3. What gouge do you recommend the most?
4. How many internal letters did you have?

Went to MKE job fair, but haven't heard anything.

Thanks

The interview was great.

Interviewed on Tuesday and was called with an offer on Friday.

The interview was a great experience. 8am at the training facility, there were 5 other folks interviewing. We were brought back as a group to hear a brief introduction to the Interviewers and AirTran.

After that, we were taken back one at a time for our interviews.

One with a 717 CKA, tell me about a in-flight emergency you had, tell me about a difficult experience with another crew member.

Another with a 737 line pilot...more 'tell me about a time' questions,

Then last for me was with HR. "Why AirTran?", "What are your strengths?", Weaknesses? And they made a big deal out of disclosing any past indiscretions.

I was done by 1pm. It was a great experience and they made it a point to put you at-ease. They all said multiple times that if they called you, you already had the job, you had to work to change their minds during the interview process.

I had no internal letters of rec, but when I was there waiting on my interview, I saw two other pilots from my old company who were in training.

They place a list of names to interview in the training center break room and leave it up for a week or so for comments. If you know someone there, they can check that list and see if your name is on it.

Best of luck!
