Default Midwest Airlines B-737

Heard a rumor from a pretty reliable source that Midwest Airlines is ordering up to 15 B-737-700. He thought they were MD-80 replacements, and for more expansion to the west coast. Anyone else heard anything?

Just rumor. We on the line hear it is between the Airbus, 737, and 757 with the 757 leading the way. There will be a replacement for the MD-80 announced soon.

Isn't the 757 production line shut down?

DC-9-81/82s haven't been made for 20 years. Midwest picked up about 10 of them a few years ago

I'll bet it will be Airbus, 319s/320s.

Heard a rumor this week that Boeing has approached the company about taking 10 717's from Hawaiin Airlines. If that is true, hiring will probably be more than the expected 60 this year. Company is turning the corner finacially and will soon be profitable by years end hopefully. Cash on hand increased to almost 100 million. Not bad for 37 aircraft. As far as hiring now, don't really know when the window will open or if it has open recently. Talk is the company will announce a replacement for the MD-80 sometime this spring. Airbus seems to be in the lead, however, Boeing is pushing 12 757's parked in the dessert that were originally scheduled to go to TWA. They are new, having only been flown from the factory to the dessert. Advanced bookings are strong. It's about time this company started to grow.
