Not sure of the exact amounts that newhires get, (too lazy to pull out the PWA,) but somewhere around $1300-$1500. No problem! The trick though is to buget yourself properly because that check on the last day is small and gets eaten up pretty quickly by rent/morgage etc. What worked for us was to get one month ahead on all bills, that way if for some reason you needed to skip paying, then you are still current, not behind. YMMV.
