Newbie Delta Pay
Just curious what a Delta pilot can expect to bring home per paycheck during training.
How about your first month out of the school house? Much different? I've looked at the paychart and can do the math but I'd be interested in hearing a more accurate figure based on somebody's experience after tax and benefit witholdings. Thanks, MB |
I've heard the take-home is about 1000 per paycheck (two paychecks a month). This is just rumor. I don't start training until Monday. Maybe someone who has recently gone through training can chime in.

That is about right. Pay is 2750 before deductions and taxes until you are IOE complete. Then newhire pay is ~50$ hour the rest of the first year.

I get 1130 each paycheck. That lasts until done with IOE, from what I am told. Budget well....

Does anyone know if we get paid per diem for our observation and IOE rotations? I can't seem to find the answer in the PWA. Thanks.

I'm married with some kids and live in a state with no state taxes. I put $60 into my flex spending account and 2% into the 401K. Training checks were each a few bucks over $1000. Checks on reserve without flying over guarantee are about $1000 on the 30th and $2000-$2500 depending on how much perdiem you geton the 15th. Going on month 9 and my best month so far has been about $3800 takehome after taxes and deductions.

Watch out for that 1st paycheck after training is complete. Mine was even lower than training pay. I was shocked. It's because they prorate your training pay and flight pay for the month. I got a 3/4 share of training pay, coupled with a flight advance of only $400 (prorated because I only worked 1 week in AUG at flight pay). Then all the taxes and insurance taken out left me about $300 short of what I was used to getting .

Since line paychecks are paid in "arrears," i.e., you are paid at the end of March for your February flying, there are some situations where folks could have a very small paycheck indeed while their line paycheck catches up.
