Did they state how long you could be in the pool? I have heard that those canceled at United will have a job offer for one year. If they are not called out of the pool by then, they loose the job offer.

I didn't ask. He mentioned fuel, the economy and 787 delays as the reasons for stopping classes. Hopefully someone else will ask when they get the call. he said they'd be sending out a letter next week with more info.

Did he mention that they probably would not be holding any more classes until after the DAL merger?

Wanted to make sure you weren't still waiting for a call if you interviewed last month or so, they usually call the Monday or Friday following your interview - good luck! Looks like you might be placed in a pool however if these rumors are correct (which I hope they aren't). I just got denied leave last week due to short staffing!

Hopefully they don't send you a letter telling you to pick through the trash while you wait for your class date

seriously though guys, sorry to everyone that this affected. I wish you the best of luck.

I'm just glad they gave enough notice that I didn't already leave the job I'm at now.

You might be better off....For those of us who did make it, might not have "made" it. We'll know in a year if we still got a job.

I probably am better off. I'll be able to pay off some bills and build some more PIC

I interviewed in March and got the acceptance letter. Currently swimming in the pool, so yes there is one. Ron informed me during the interview that I was in a proposed class date of 6 August...obviously with everything that is going on this is subject to change. The email I was sent said they would be doing all of the background checks etc, but we should be notified 2 months out or so about the upcoming class date. Last I heard there are about 30 swimming. Good luck to all...

Here's a copy of the letter...

Dear GNH:

Congratulations! I would like to welcome you to Northwest Airlines. We are pleased to confirm our conditional offer of employment to you for the position of Flight Officer. At this time, the effective date of your employment and scheduled training has yet to be determined. Once we have a confirmed class date, you will be contacted by our office. We will make every effort to provide you with a minimum of two months prior notice.

This offer is contingent upon compliance with the policies and regulations of the Company, state and federal laws, including your providing proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. You must also successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug testing, CHRC fingerprinting and mandated criminal history records check, background investigation, request for historical verifications, including the requirements under the Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRIA) and a pre-employment medical examination. The timing of your medical examination will be based on your planned start date.

We look forward to you joining our NWA team.
