Aloha Airlines: Letter to the Editor
#11
Wasn't trying to compare NW and Mesa, didn't mean for it to look that way. My point was that John Q Public lives in the now, and by not supporting AT that they essentially raised the fares on themselves...

The key issue isn't Mesa's pricing but the way in which it gained the knowledge of Aloha's pricing. Everybody seems to forget that a jury found that the Mesa Group had used inside knowledge from Hawaiian. There is a simular lawsuit in the works from Aloha. The shame is that while the owners of Aloha will get theirs in the end, the employees will still be out of work.

Southwest is doing the same thing to Frontier in Denver. Is the public going to boycott WN when they put F9 down? Probably not, despite the fact they lack integrity and fly around with knowledge of busted up airframes... Trash

SWA won't be boycotted for conducting business in a way that benefits them. No airline would....wait, except for Mesa.
Does any airline ever make decisions based on their effects on the competition?
SWA don't fly junk, either. Dry up, and update that resume! I'm doing the same thing (I'm at another failing airline, Mesa).

Maybe I'm not familiar with the Southwest/ Frontier situation. I didn't realise that Southwest had offered to set up a business partership with Frontier. Frontier opened their books (of course having Southwest sign a confidentially/ non compete aggreement). Armed with this information, Southwest then violated the aggreement and entered the same markets as Frontier.

It's just a shame swa practices preditory pricing at DIA because they do loose money at DIA. Their losses are more that offset by profits at 96% at "other-than-denver" hubs/routes. They unfortunately will grind Frontier down with "no profit" fares. The locals much prefer Frontiers product, but in the end they rule as most will click on the swa's lower internet price.
Yes, the resume and logbook has been updated for the next round.

Wake up, America! Stop searching for the cheapest airline ticket,
the cheapest toy, the cheapest mortgage and start shopping for VALUE and
QUALITY, because 'the cheapest' will eventually come around to you.
That attitude has driven our manufacturing capabilities overseas and
reduced the safety and quality of products in the USA and enriched the
managers of the companies that are taking advantage of you.
LOL. Coming from an airline pilot, perhaps among the cheapest human beings on the planet...

The oil companies have figured out how to manipulate the system, its about time the airline industry followed their lead.
