Default The cost to AA

Does anyone have a round about number on how much all the MD-80 flying cancellation is going to cost?

Right now the losses are still being calculated, but it has topped 32million.

Today 60 MD80's were put back into service, and we have mx crews working around hte clokc to get the rest back to the line. However, there is still no estimated time that all a/c will be back on the line. Untill then AA will continue to rely on Eagle to pick up as much of the domestic passenger that were left stranded as possible.

I don't have a copy of the AA/APA collective bargain handy, but I would presume the flight crews are pay protected. I know this may sound a little trivial in the grand scheme of things, but I would be curious what a day's worth of payroll costs is, if in fact they are pay protected.
