Wear that ALPA pin with pride of you want...they're big boys, they can take it.

Buddy, no one at Airways hates ALPA. Well yes maybe most. They are just sick of paying good dues and getting hosed by what is supposed to be a group that supports the pilots. When the union hoses you worse than managmenet, then there is a problem.

I had a US Airways :LGA-based Airbus CA look my captain and I in the eye one day (after he asked for a jumpseat!) and tell us that we, as 50 seat regional pilots, "make too much money and that's why we were in bankruptcy twice".

The east pilots saved the airline and thus deserve a little more than getting screwed.
Why do you buy into this thinking that if a company is in bankruptcy then their employees aren't worth anything? I don't understand that.

I don't understand why US Air pilots, who are so angry about the seniority arbitration, felt it is a good idea to take out their anger on ALPA and vote out the most powerful pilots union.
I understand why US Air guys are upset. I feel the junior east guys should not have been stapled below the most junior AWA guy. But honestly, what are they trying to accomplish by voting in USAPA.

Saying ALPA "hosed" AAA pilots worse than management, however, is the issue.

I'll concede the MDA list debacle...the AAA MEC should have ensured those names were on the list provided to Nicholau. That aside, I have no problem whatsoever with active pilots being placed above furloughed pilots on the arbitrated list, regardless of anybody's DOH or seniority or age. The date the merger was announced, some pilots had jobs and others did not...that had to be and in my eyes was taken into account in the final award.
My uncle, a retired O-5 in the AF, was furloughed by AAA sometime around the 2nd bankruptcy. He's long since turned 60 and taken "early retirement", but I had no problem looking him in the eye and telling him he didn't deserve to be above an active West pilot...I'd have no problems telling anyone else that either.
I do genuinely wish the USAPA the best of luck going forward...and sincerely hope this isn't the basis of a seniority and airframe grab at the expense of West pilots.
