Work Slow-Down at AA???

Is there a work slowdown or what?

Taxied for departure behind an AA MD-88 the other day (almost two miles) at a blistering 8 knots GS.

Yes, EIGHT knots. 15 minutes. I figure it cost them upwards of 50 extra gallons at 3 bucks a pop ($150) in fuel burn. That's no way to be profitable.

Perhaps, since they're in contract negotiations, making a profit isn't the pilot's agenda.

It might have something to do with the fact that AA pilots were picketing in MIA and DFW the other day.

There are lots of little ways the Capt can save the company $. Or not.

Slow down???? No, that would be job action.....shhhhh, the media may be reading APC.

They are just being safe I'm sure. Keep up the safe line standard guys.

They were probably waiting for their load close out. But I agree they are very slow sometimes!

so what. you cant get in trouble for taxiing slow. you can get in a LOT of trouble for taxiing fast. Good job AA, keep it slow and safe. Why does everyone want to taxi at 20+ knots anyway?

Remember the FAA says "Taxi speed should be limited to no faster than a brisk walk in ideal conditions"

It's what BOB would do.

AA seems to always taxi slower than others. I'm based at ORD and there are tons of different airlines there, AA always seems to crawl.

I know a few people who dread the words "follow American".
