Spirit Pilots... How much time do we have?
JC entered my recurrent a few weeks ago stating these words... When asked about the current state of NK, he replied (not word for word) "We dont have to worry just yet... If Oil reaches 120 dollars, then thats a different story. Oil is at 126 plus and trending higher. How much time do we have, or is it our time at all???
|
With oil at $126 everyone is out of time. My guess is that either the oil bubble will burst or there will be many more bankruptcies in the U.S. airline industry. Everyone should be saving their pennies and dusting off their resume no matter who you work for.
|
This may be why I have always wanted to stay with a smaller company that flys a very fuel efficient T-Prop....but best of luck.

I am home almost everynight, living fine off my salary, and get to spend a good amount of my time with my family and friends. I am happy. I am not wishing bad on anyone or any company. So there is no need for you to try to get me down just because I am not on "your level". |

"1st quarter profit" As it was presented. Means we are ok for now. I just got here but I am the anti kool-aid man. IMHO we are ok for now... Just a question. With fuel hedged for the next 18 months shouldn't that help? |
Everyone keeps talking about oil going over $120 a bbl, but folks, it was there a long time ago. CAL is paying over $156 a bbl for jet fuel, and I don't think everyone else is getting it much cheaper. The $125 a bbl you see on CNBC is for CAR oil, NOT JET FUEL. The $125 oil has to be "cracked" into jet fuel, and hence the oil companies use that excuse to sock us another 20% premium over the cost of a regular bbl. But everyone is right, this insanity has to stop. (Go ahead and flame away oil company supporters, but remember, it's YOUR job you seem so happy about extinguishing.......)
|
Alright Steveo.... this is one of those situations where you and I need to stay out of the conversation and let the big guys go at it.... that is if they want. You really have no dog in this fight.... so do us a favor and don't get involved... and by us I mean you, myself, and anyone else who isn't flying something with a MTOW in excess of 16,000lbs. M'kay?
CAL.... come on buddy.... you know better than to bite at us shrimps.... give the noob a break.... |

Looking for investors but none stepping up due to oil prices and credit crunch. Sorry... |
I heard it was eating into the cash for next years deliveries but wasn't at a time frame yet of when closure was coming. The magic number seems to be $120. Needs to get below that. $124.12 today.
|
What about that shinning star at 126 stuff?
|
And its not trending higher. Well gosh it was down a whole .10 cents today!!!

There's one now!-------->:D |
Senior management has probably already started looting the company out the back door in preparation for heartfelt tearful announcement.
|
This time I am sure Jeff will line his pockets well, he surely learned that at NWA from those above, and he is about as full of scruples as Joseph Stalin.

That way when they ask for concessions....... well you can figure the answer:( Just remember, the chapter(s) are still being written, "shinning star".:D |
We have an 18 months fuel hedge, so i wouldn't worry too much about the furlough. Let's just hang on and we'll make it through........Don't forget that the threat of a furlough is never good for the pilots morale. Just keep the faith. Our new ALPA guys will do a good job.
|
Thanks for the positive spin!! Us new guys need it!!! Also that seems to be what is being echoed from Indigo. Im keeping good thoughts.
Any time the company gets word the pilots are afraid of a furlough they use it to their advantage. |
Any talk at Spirit of a merger ??
With Air Tran, Jet Blue, or Midwest Express ?? Just curious..thanks. FF |
I think we have all heard those rumors. Goes hand in hand with us getting A330's for long haul legs to Brazil or farther south. Basicly never gonna happen.
|
Virgin America and SWA rumors as well: Code sharing with Grey Hound?????
VA because of the AC's and SWA because of the Central, South America and Caribbean routes Who knows...... I have'nt been consulted lately:) |
We will be bought out at some point. We have too good of a product not to. The investors want their money.

the good thing is that Spirit's market is more independent of the state of the u.s. economy, than most airlines.
|
very true! but we still have to buy fuel! and you think fuel prices ae high here in in the Continental United States? try to buy it in the Islands!! OOOUCH!
|
Its cheap in Venezula... Only a matter of time and its on the list. I have a feeling we will carry every gallon extra we can if were not taxed like crazy. It is like 39 cents a gallon there.

Unfortunately, history has proven this wrong with numerous airlines over the years. I wish you guys all the best. We're all part of the same sh!t sandwich. |
