Returning to UAL after furlough, jumpseat questions
I've jumpseated quite a bit in the past. However, I've not been with the airline for 7 years now and I'm wondering how much it has changed. In the past casual Business atire got you on just about any airline, in the cockpit, first or coach where ever the Captain wanted you to park yourself. Also it was just showing up at the gate. So now the questions:
1) What is the standard dress code now for jumpseating, is it different for Cockpit or Cabin?
2) I'll be commuting between JAX and IAD which is only served by Mesa and Go Jet directly. Can we Jumpseat on them?
Which brings up a question about "commuter policy", is there such a thing?
Thanks for the input I'm just sitting here wondering about the future.

If all of your documentation is in order then yes you can jumpseat. Bring your airline id, and your passport.
The have to have your picture visually verified in the computer system. It is a special database that makes sure of your identity.
No problem. Welcome back.

And certificate and medical, although few actually ask for it or look at it. Many airlines can "list" for the jumpseat via a special phone number. The gate agents appreciate it.

ALWAYS introduce yourself to the CA or FO (if the CA is not around) when you get a seat in the back. They appreciate knowing you're there, and it helps to let the FA's know who you are too. Telling them you're there to help if their's any problems always gets a thanks of appreciation. Wearing nice slacks and shirt and tie if you'd like goes a long way and shows respect towards what you're doing and who you're doing it with. Welcome back and most of all, don't let the TSA get you wound up.......
