Spirit Challenged by "Legacy Cost Structure"
#1
...."Spirit is challenged by many things, including critical mass, and legacy cost structure".....
-excerpt from a letter sent to Spirit employees by the VP Flight Operations on 6/6/08
1. Critical Mass. No Idea what that means. Don't care either.
2. Legacy Cost Structure. [I wouldn't consider NK as having exactly a super high employee overhead.] Hmmm. I think I see where this is going. I guess a 401k match and more than minimum wage are too much to ask for in this "new and challenging landscape of $130+ oil".
-Don't give in guys and gals (at all airlines) It is not up to us to subsidize the insatiable appetite of the traveling public for cheap transportation. Nor is it our duty to reward and subsidize airline executives with less than stellar resumes'

well it is certainly having an effect on alot of our guys. Sure would be nice to get something published for our guys about JC and past practice. I know there is ALOT of it out there. I run in to NWA guys all the time that give me an earful.
The conversation always seems to start with "are you a Friend of Jeff?"
"No?? good lets talk about him....."

That letter as well as Ben´s "pro-active" letter would have been nice to have had before they sent out the WARN Act notice to ALPA national without telling the MEC. Or even better yet, told the union a week earlier at the "emergency" mtg that it was coming...... I guess critical mass hadn´t been achieved yet?
Livin the ULCC dream.......
