Default Airlines going Wi-Fi

Delta to offer Wi-Fi Internet access - Aug. 5, 2008

i think its a very smart business decision. hopefully they dont charge for the usage. ticket prices should reflect the value of the product, and this adds to the value.

I think it is a very poor security decision. Wireless technology is available to do many things and the bad guys are catching on.

... Let alone all that extra cash laying around to pay for it.

Passengers will be able to connect to the Internet through Aircell's "Gogo" portal. Wi-Fi will be available to passengers in first-class and economy seats for a flat fee of $9.95 for flights three hours or shorter and for $12.95 on longer trips, according to the airline.

I'd rather pay 10 or 13 bucks for internet access than 7 bucks for a blanket--or anything for water.

although--why not charge another 2 bucks a ticket, and provide free wi-fi? two-thirds of the pax won't use it anyway.

True, but why dont we push DALPA to give us free access?

its very possible...but do you really think the WiFi system will have ANY link or access to any system on the aircraft? I am betting it will be physically disconnected.

Shoot, I'm sure the company will make their "best efforts" to give us free wi-fi on the airplane...just like they will in hotels...as long as it doesn't cost them anything. See JPWA...
