ISP to MCO on SWA
#1
Heading from Long Island (ISP) to Orlando (MCO) on SWA tomorrow.
Just curious about the routing. Does SWA stay close to the shore line (50 miles I think is the criteria) around the Carolinas or are their airplanes "overwater qualified" and they do go beyond the 50 mile limit.
Or are there new rules I'm not aware of? Just curious.
Not going to see the Big Mouse, just going to relax in the warmer weather about an hour north of the airport.

KISP..BEADS..EMJAY.J174.ORF.J121.CHS.J79.OMN.BITHO 7. MCO
The farthest that this routing goes offshore is about 40 NM at EMJAY.
The 50 mile rule that you are referring to is for aircraft without life vests. SWA now has life vests on all 448 of our aircraft and can fly up to 163 NM off shore except north of 35 deg. we are limited to 100 NM.
Have a great trip to MCO, it's about 85 degrees here today and thank you for flying Southwest. If your a revenue passenger, thanks for feeding my kids.

It's supposed to "cool down" into the mid 70s tomorrow.
Yep, flying full fare. Didn't even want to consider stand-by as I understand that's a heavily traveled route and we really don't have a lot of schedule flexibility.
You can mention my name at dinner to your kids!
