I find it strange that Triyar would buy controlling interest in the operation and then essentially pull out a few months later, but they might not have put much cash in the deal.
sounds like Sky King is running out of cash again

Brian,

I think Triyar didn't really "buy" a controlling interest. From what I can piece together...Fly Guam owed Sky King several million dollars in fees for the flying Sky King had already done. I think they worked out a deal to take a portion of the business in lieu of the payment. (thats just me saying that...haven't heard that from any of the bigwigs).

All of the Guam pilots were flying in Florida last week and I don't see them on the schedule for next week. N238AG is still flying in Miami for the time being so there is no airplane in Guam right now.

Funny, all of your five posts are towards Sky King.

What makes you think they are running out of cash?

Any company goes where the money is, especially 121 supplemental...there is no more money in Guam. Simple as that! The plane is making more money flying in the states....FULL!

The article left out a few things...his name is actually spelled "Tim Martins" and he also flies F-16's for the Reserves out of Homestead and drives a fire truck for the Miami FD when he's not capturing renegade pythons or alligators in the everglades. He is also the only man on earth Chuck Norris fears.

Not hating on the kid, just joking at his expense...

Bull. Skill, knowledge, dedication, and personality are huge parts of the equation as well. Luck and timing are major factors in how that plays out over time, however it's highly ignorant to make a statement like you did.

Skill keeps you in the lucky position you wound up in. He was lucky to get hired young and move up the seniority list so quickly; and his skill allowed him to pass his type ride and line check.

Kudos to this guy - good to see someone catch a break and someone who truly seems to enjoy his job.

Please tell that to all the highly skilled, well educated, incredibly dedicated, great guys that flew for Braniff, Eastern, and Pan Am. While your at it, tell that to the same group of guys that were on the bottom of TWA, United, USAir's, etc seniority list in 1999. I bet they'll tell you that luck and timing played a much bigger part in their life than skill. I bet even alot of SWA, FedEx, and UPS guys/gals will say the same thing, just that they were on the lucky end vs the unlucky end. As a whole, pilots are very skilled, educated, and dedicated (personality is highly subjective) but from where I sit, this business (and a career in it) has alot more to do with luck and timing than the factors you mentioned when compared to used car salesmen, doctors, lawyers, business owners, CEO's, and a thousand other jobs I can mention. Those guys can get ahead with hard work, dedication, etc. We can only get started with that. Once you get your seniority #, luck and timing do (most of) the rest of the work. Sure, you have to be competent to pass your checkrides, etc. but I've just seen alot of great people get unlucky breaks and alot of people that didn't work half as hard, get very lucky breaks.

I think we are actually on the same page, we agree that the person (to include skill) can start on the right path but luck and timing will eventually show how rocky that path is. Does that make a little more sense than my one line semi-sarcastic statement in my original post? I also agree with everybody else, kudos to this kid, I hope his good luck and everyone else's continues til they hit age 65.
