Miserable User - - it's a status that can be assigned to a user in vBulletin that makes the bulletin board software behave as if his computer or internet connection are not working properly. Once you sign on, it simply "hangs" on a page as if it won't load.

Can't log on, can't read posts, can't send PMs, can't read PMs - - can't cause trouble. It was the wide use of this feature, along with equally stupid management tactics to try to shut people up, that led to a dramatic exodus from FlightInfo some months ago. I'd hate to think anyone here was using the feature.

TonyC don't pull legs. FI did use the "miserable user" feature. One of their less than intelligent moderators accidentally disclosed the presence of said feature.

BTW, does anyone know why the two mods on clear and a million are also mods on FI?

well, if there is such a thing, it sounds exactly like what i experienced.

any admin or moderator care to comment?

Actually it was an administrator who unwittingly granted access to a certain group of users whom he attempted to hush by placing them in "Paroled" status. They couldn't access their own avatars or signatures, but they could access the moderators only forum, where the Miserable User status had been discussed.

Ironic, no?

Yes, the two moderators on Clear-and-a-million are also moderators on FlightInfo. Since CaaM is for the most part self-moderating, they have little work to do there.

You're not the only victim of arbitrary censorship.

Kill Bill, II 04-12-2006 06:21 AM

well, after multiple e-mails went unanswered, i finally got a PM from HSLD who confirms that i was, indeed, a "miserable user" and got treated accordingly.

it's their board and they can certainly do what they want with it. i just think it's chicken**** the way they went about it.

i'm not sure i even want to post here anymore under the present circumstances. if i'm removed from the board or if i decide to just go away, i want all of you to know how much i enjoyed the banter, even those i ripped.

so, i guess we'll see what we'll see.

I, for one, can see why you were labeled a Miserable User, Kill Bill.
